Car Plows into Merrick Road Starbucks

Nobody hurt Friday in Massapequa as vehicle plows into coffee chain's front door.

A spectacular crash interrupted lunch hour at the Friday afternoon as a car crashed through the coffee chain's front door, authorities said.

Miraculously, nobody was hurt.

The accident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. as a woman driving a red Nissan 300zx "lost control of the vehicle," according to Massapequa First Assistant Fire Chief Gerard Keuchler. It's not known what caused the woman, who appeared to be in her late 50s, to lose control of the vehicle.

She suffered only minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, authorities said. Nobody else was in the car, police said. It's not known how many people were inside the store at the time. The driver was not charged.

The car destroyed the doors and damaged scaffolding from ongoing construction at the store. Firefighters worked for more than an hour after the accident to stabilize the scaffolding.

Keuchler estimated that the doors were worth about $1,000.
