Herman's Hermits Concert at Burns Park Rained Out

Music Under the Stars event to be re-scheduled.

Herman's Hermits have gone back into hiding, at least for the time being.

The band, fronted by 60's British rock icon Peter Noone, was set to take to the stage at John J. Burns Park Monday night when the concert was cancelled just 20 minutes before showtime on account of rain.

However, that didn't stop Noone from at least signing a few autographs for disappointed fans before departing.

The band's equipment, already set up on the stage, was hastily wrapped in plastic and put away by event personnel. Despite the inclement weather, many residents had shown up for the concert anyway, many with umbrellas and even tents to ward off the rain.

Among the let down Peter Noone fans were Michael Carr and his sister Janet, who had driven all the way from Valley Stream for tonight's show.

"We're huge fans of Peter...we love his music," he said. "He's a great person. He puts on the best shows and he's very nice to people, and he's got such a huge catalog that you don't even get to hear. We're very disappointed that the concert got cancelled tonight, but we'll be back when he re-schedules it."

According to Town of Oyster Bay officials, the event, a part of the Music Under the Stars series, will be re-scheduled with a tentative date of August 9. Residents are advised to check the Town of Oyster Bay's website for the exact date when it becomes available.
