Massapequa Park Home Damaged By Fire

No one reported hurt, according to authorities.

A two-floor house at 319 Unqua Road in Massapequa Park was damaged in a fire last night. According the Massapequa fire chief Peter Anglim, no one was hurt in the blaze.

"The fire only traveled very minimally into the house," he said. "The bulk of the fire was on the exterior of the house."

The fire department received the call reporting the fire at approximately 3:43 a.m. Anglim said the cause of the incident is currently being looked into.

"The fire itself is under investigation by the fire marshal," Anglim said. "There's nothing suspicious...the fire did start on the North side of the house, where they have an outside barbecue and wet bar."

"We did have some fire extend into the attic and some rooms that were right against where the fire was," Anglim added. "The structure itself, for the most part, is safe."

The North side of the house and most of the patio area was blackened and charred, and the yard's white plastic fence appeared to be partially melted. In addition, many of the home's windows had been broken.

The homeowners were unavailable for comment.
