There may have been a chill in the air but it sure looked like summer.
The opened its season on Saturday. There was a cold breeze off the water, but a bright sun and familiar faces warmed the day. Festivities started off at 9 a.m. with a parade that saw divisions from Squirts to Majors march from the , down Merrick Road to
Once they arrived, there were short greetings by elected officials and a welcome speech from MCLL Commissioner Craig Garland.

Garland kept things brief as teams got their pictures taken and kids had a chance to have lunch at the snack shack and play on the bouncy slides that were set up for the occasion. There were also two new signs unveiled honoring the 2010 13 and 14 tear old Juniors Champs, 11 year old Long Island Champs and the 10 year old Division Champions.
After the festivities it was "game on" as the first pitch of the season was thrown. The 2011 season is now under way and will run until June.
