Police Blotter: Neighbor Foils Alleged GPS Theft

Sept. 20 to Sept. 26.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Possession of Stolen Property

A man awoken by a barking dog spotted two people breaking into a neighbor's car on Sept. 23, police said.  The man, looked out the window and saw Gregory A Cofts, 23, and Kalie M. Koester, 18, walking from a vehicle parked in the neighbor's driveway. He called police who stopped the pair who were in possession of a GPS, police said.  The witness identified Crofts and Koester and they were charged with possession of stolen property.

Burglaries

On Sept. 20, a home was broken into on Carmen Mill Road in Massapequa. The burglar entered through the side dorr and took jewelry and cash sometime between 6 p.m. and 7:48 p.m.

A burglar broke into a home on Camp Road sometime between Sept. 18 and Sept. 25., police said. The thief broke in through a window and took jewelry and cash.

Car Theft

A 1969 Plymouth GTX was stolen out of a garage on Toronto Avenue sometime between Sept. 18 and Sept 25. cops said.

DWI

On Sept. 24, Daniel Shakespeare, 23, of  Plainview, was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Old Sunrise Highway, Massapequa and charged with driving while intoxicated and one violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

On Sept. 25, Janet Hardwick, 53 of Lindenhurst, was arrested in Sunrise Highway near Park Boulevard, Massapequa Park and charged with driving while intoxicated and two violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Harassment

On Sept 21, a Massapequa couple was  was arrested on Clarks Blvd. and charged with harassment 2nd.

Petty Larceny

On Sept. 21, a South Farmingdale woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

On Sept. 21, an Amityville woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

On Sept. 21, a Massapequa woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

OnSept. 23, an Amityville woman was arrested at Wal-Mart,  at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

On Sept.23, an Amityville man  was arrested at Duane Reade, 901 Carmans Road, Massapequa and charged with petty larceny.
