Town Board Votes on Traffic Signs

Five new areas to be regulated in Massapequa.

If you're driving around Massapequa in the coming weeks, you might want to double check those signs by the curb.

The Oyster Bay Town Board voted Tuesday to make amendments to traffic zones in  the area. The date the changes will go into effect have yet to be determined.

Some of the changes will include:

  • No Stopping zones on Block Boulevard, starting at the north curbline of Merrick Road.
  • A No Parking Anytime sign on Clocks Boulevard, starting at the south curbline of Lincoln Avenue.
  • A No Stopping or Standing  sign on Lake Shore Boulevard, starting at the north curbline of Merrick Road.
  • A No Parking  from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Forest Avenue, starting at the south side of Harrison Place.
  • A No Trucks over Four Tons Gross Weight sign on Lakeshore Boulevard, south to Merrick Road and north to Sunrise Highway.

The town held a hearing about the proposed changes, where nobody spoke out against the plan. Town Supervisor John Venditto encourages residents to let their elected officials know about traffic issues.

"The residents are the eyes and ears of these communities," he said.

"We want their input about letting us know where we need a sign in an effort to keep residents safe."
