A Short Holiday Week Ahead

A look at what's going on in Wantagh-Seaford.

It's a short week for most people, and we have more than one holiday this final week of November.

Here's a look ahead:

Thanksgiving: Thursday is a national holiday which has been celebrated in the U.S. since 1863. Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday as will most government offices.

Hanukkah: It's extremely rare that Thanksgiving and Hanukkah converge at the same time, but they do in 2013. The Jewish Festival of Lights starts Wednesday evening and will continue over eight days.

Black Friday: It's creeping more and more into Thursday, but the yearly shopping extravaganza will be in full force at week's end. Will let you know what you need to know.

Tree Lighting: The Village of Massapequa Park will hold its annual tree and Menorah lighting Saturday evening.

Library: THe Central Avenue Library will close early Wednesday at 5 p.m.
