Tom Emberley has joined SUNY College at Old Westbury as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Operations, announced recently by Director of Athletics, Lenore Walsh.

"Tom brings a great deal of energy and leadership to the Old Westbury Athletics Department," said Panther Athletic Director Lenore Walsh. "I am eager for him to take the lead in our NCAA Rules Compliance for staff, coaches and student-athletes. I am also looking forward to his creativity when developing the SAAC and student-athlete development programs."

Emberley, a 12-year veteran in collegiate athletics administration, arrives at Old Westbury after spending the 2012-13 year as Director of Athletics Communications at Yeshiva University. At Yeshiva, he publicized the Maccabees' 14-sport, NCAA Division III athletics program, including service as the editor-in-chief of the department's web site, YUMacs.com.

Prior to Yeshiva, Emberley served a one-plus-year stint at Queens College as Director of Athletics Communications. At Queens, he was responsible for all facets of the publicity and promotion of the Knights' 19-sport, NCAA Division II athletics program. Emberley, who oversaw the promotion of four All-American student-athletes and a Capital One Academic All-District selection, was instrumental in developing QC's social media efforts, as he oversaw the successful launch of the department's Twitter and YouTube sites while enhancing an already-existing Facebook page. He also had additional responsibilities during his tenure at Queens in the program's NCAA compliance area.

Emberley spent the previous three-plus years in the conference office environment, including a year-plus at the City University of New York Athletic Conference and two years at the East Coast Conference.  From 2005-07, Emberley was the Director of Sports Information at Long Island University-Post.

The Fitchburg, Massachusetts native previously held posts as Director of Sports Information at LIU-Post, Director of Athletic Communications at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at La Salle University, and as a Sports Information Intern at both the United States Naval Academy and the College of the Holy Cross.

Emberley earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management from Western New England University , where he was a two-year member of the Golden Bears' football program. He later received his Master's in Business Administration in Management and Leadership from Dowling College.

Emberley resides in Massapequa, New York, with his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Tyler.
