April: 22: Earth Day

Earth Day: Monday is  Earth Day, a day devoted to awareness for environmental issues. The first Earth Day on April 22 1970. was created by former Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson Organizers hoped it would be the beginning of a grassroots movement and it’s grown by leaps and bounds over 42 years.

Worms: There will be an Earth Day celebration at the Bar Harbour Library. Children 6 to 12 are asked to bring 16-24 ounce glass jars to this program and learn about the importance of worms.  They will also make a wormery.

Story Time:  The Central Avenue Library will host a story program for kids 3 and up. It starts at 2 p.m.

Baseball:  Massapequa hosts Syosset at 4 p.m.

Softball:  The Chiefs travel to Island Trees for a  4:15 p.m. game.
