Jan 22: Snow Storm Aftermath

A look at Wednesday in the Massapequa area.

We start Wednesday under a blanket of snow.  It moved into the area earlier than expected and stayed in the area through most of Tuesday.

Here's what you need to know as we start the day.

Schools: Massapequa public schools will be closed on Wednesday. Plainedge Public Schools and St Rose of Lima School is also closed.

Library: The Massapequa Public Library plans to re-open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Sanitation/S.O.R.T.: There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Wednesday. It will be picked up on your next scheduled collection day.

Warming Centers: Nassau County officials announced there will be  centers are at the following locations. Our Lady of Lourdes School at 379 Linden Street in Massapequa Park. Massapequa Park Village Hall at 151 Front Street in Massapequa Park.

Non Emergency Hotline: Nassau County has activated a hotline for non-life threatening emergencies related to the storm. If you have such an emergency call 1-888-684-4274.
