LIPA: More Than 3,000 Remain Without Power in East Meadow

Wednesday night's snowstorm added more outages to areas, according to LIPA.

The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) is reporting that 3,623 customers in East Meadow are still without power as of 7:40 a.m. on Thursday.

Wednesday night's snowstorm added even more outages to areas that were already without electricity for 10 days.

In a statement on its website, LIPA officials said:

"LIPA is responding to the high winds, rain, and snow in our area today.  Last night's storm has caused additional damage and power outages and we will continue to deploy our significant workforce to address all power outages."

Beyond frustrated people to the left of us have power people to the right of us have power Maybe if a Senator or Congressman lived in our area like North Merrick or Merrick we would have a better chance. Sandra Young

If you see a truck you have to talk to the crew....The out of state guys will hang out in an area and check things....They understand that its not the brightest to run back to home base after a minor fix when people are still out in the area...I was out 6 days and it was bad,,,cold mornings,,,i couldnt imagine people still out,,,like 10 houses right across the street

How is it that East Meadow can have more outages than oceanside and merrick... this is beyond unacceptable and our representatives need to be held accountable... 10 1/2 days without power in this weather is far far too long. I wish there was a way to get to these people face to face.

It is amazing that many of us were promised power to be restored by Wed 11pm and now on Thurs afternoon we are all still without power . many more have been added to the mix and officers are saying that homes that have been waiting , now fall back to the bottom of the list as "priority" are street lights, schools, businesses and the elderly. We need Our officials to force management to make crews to make US a priority as a whole. Where are MY government reps ,while I am sleeping in an igloo????
