Patch Cameras caught images from many memorable moments in 2012.

For all of the moments we'll remember from 2012 there will likely be an image that will stay in your mind along with that memory.

Hurricane: When Sandy struck Massapequa and the rest of Long Island in October, the storm surge flooded many areas south of Merrick Road, doing massive damage. The flood turned Alhambra Road into a river. 

Peter Schmitt Memorial: Perhaps the most stunning story of 2012 was the sudden death of longtime legislator Peter Schmitt.  His loss affected the whole Massapequa community, but the devestation it caused his family was immeasurable.

Hello Dolly: Massapequa High School's production of "Hello Dolly" had a professional feel to it and with the cast so close to the audience, you almost felt like you were in the 19th  century.

Memorial Day: The area kicked off the summer with the annoual parade featurning a patriotic young man on a tricycle.

Restaurant: It was one of the biggest business openings in Massapequa in 2012 and Ginza Japanese restaurant started things off with a splash.

Merrick Road Crash: An August crash on Merrick Road was frightening, but police said both passengers in the vehicle would survive.

Starbucks Smash: Customers in Starbucks received a jolt on a Friday afternoon in June, and it wasn's from the coffee. A car plowed thorough the chain's front door. Nobody was hurt.

July 4th Day: As Massapequa celebrated America's birthday, a brother and sister showed the stars ans stripes can come in different forms.

Fireworks: The annual Burns Park Salute to America lit up the sky over Burns Park.

Dogs! Finally, what would a year in photos be without at least one shot of a dog?
