Massapequa Week in Review

A look back at the top stories of the week.

It was a week that saw the government re-open. We also saw a terrible accident on the Southern State Parkway.

Here's a look back:

The federal government re-opened for business just in time to avoid Thursday's debt ceiling deadline, but it was a rocky road for House Republicans. Peter King, R-Seaford went so far as saying the GOP "is going nuts."

An off-duty NYPD officer was killed in a crash on the Southern State Parkway Thursday.

The Southern State Parkway was also the scene of a Leandra's Law arrest this week.

A shoplifter at JC Penny  was arrested for assaulting a security guard and leaving her kids in the car, police said.

Finally Thousands are expected to flock to Oyster Bay for the annual Oyster Fest.
