Photos: Massapequa's Long Island Rail Road Stations

A look at Massapequa's well-known local mass-transit system.

If you live in the Massapequas, chances are you've ridden the Long Island Rail Road out of the Massapequa or Massapequa Park stations at one time or another. After all, trains have been coming through the area since 1867.

Many commuters rely on the LIRR on a daily basis for getting to and from work each day, while families and friends use it extensively to travel into Manhattan or out east for day trips.

Both stations were elevated  to improve safety conditions. Massapequa Park was one of  the last stations to do  so and wasn't elevated until 1981.
