Renovation Closes Elevator at Massapequa LIRR Station

New project phase kicks off.

The elevator in the Massapequa Long Island Rail Road Station has been closed as the ongoing renovation there.

The next phase of the project closed another section of the westbound side of the platform, which will be demolished and rebuilt, according to the MTA.

The elevator will also be demolished and rebuilt. Customers who require the use of an elevator are being told to use the Seaford or Bellmore stations.

Riders who get on and off in Massapequa will have to use six cars instead of eight, and the stairs next to the station's ticket office will be closed. Commuters can get to the platform using the east underpass staircases.

Handicapped parking spaces are being relocated to the north side of the underpass, while 20 spaces adjacent to the south sidewalk will be temporarily used to accommodate construction material and equipment.
