Report: Massapequa Park is Ninth Hardest Working Place in New York

Village one of five Long Island communities that topped recent list with hardest working people.

Massapequa Park is one of the hardest working places on Long Island and in New York State.

Long Island's south shore dominated a list of hardest working places in New York State with five communities making the top 10 on a Movato list.

Rockville Centre ranked first among Long Island communities and fourth overall. Floral Park tied Lynbrook for sixth overall. Massapequa Park was ninth and City of Long Beach was 10th.

The report said of Massapequa Park:

Massapequa Park showed that putting your nose to the grindstone can result in some pretty sweet compensation. Workers in this 17,008 population village were on the job an average of 38.2 hours a day and on the road an average of 34.4 minutes a day. That’s a whole lot of being out and about. With only 6.4 percent of the population being unemployed, that means hardly anyone is just hanging around on weekdays here.

Just missing the top 10 were Garden City (11th), Valley Stream (15th), Freeport (23rd), and Hempstead (34th).

The list, released last week by Movato.com, compiled data from household income and cost of living, average time spent commuting, unemployment rates, and average hours worked per week.

Scarsdale, Rye, and Dobbs Ferry took first, second, and third place respectively. Also making the top 10 were Mamaroneck (fifth) and Peekskill (eighth). Read the full list here.

I agree. We are getting nothing in return for living here.

The county and the town have the same problem. They are short on money. They freeze hiring, but whenever a cousin, child, neighbor or someone who voted for you needs a job, a job opens up. We pay for this. These are the lazy ones with the attitudes.

It is a joke.

Yes, it is a joke. The first thing that should be addressed is the exorbitant cost to the taxpayers of the NCPD and it's pensions. Good place to start cutting taxes.
