The Impact of Gas Gouging

A Massapequa station settled with the state over post Sandy Price gouging. Will this deter other businesses?

The BP gas station on North Broadway has settled a dispute with the state that has been brewing since Hurricane Sandy struck the area.

The station admitted to price gouging in the days after the storm and will pay a $4,500 fine. according to the state attorney general.

The station was accused of hiking their prices by  51 percent, while the station owner claimed that BP usually sets the price, but he was unable to get it from them immediately after the storm because of power failures.
