Week in Review: July 22 to July 28

A look at the top stories in Massapequa this week.

Nine months after Sandy, fallout from the storm continues to affect the Massapequa area.  The area will receive some help from the government to rebuild from Sandy, while the state will collect a fine from a local business related to the storm.

Here's a look at this week's top stories.

A Massapequa gas station settled with the state of New York for price gouging in the days after Hurricane Sandy.

The Village of Massapequa Park recently received $3 million  in state and federal funds after to pay for storm rebuilding costs. Mayor Jeffrey Pravato  said one priority will be rebuilding Colleran Park.

Nassau County officials announced a cleanup of Massapequa Lake to begin next week. Volunteers and workers will concentrate on getting rid of water chestnut plants.

Monday saw a serious accident in North Massapequa as an SUV flipped at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and North Broadway.

Finally, The shopping plaza on Carmans Road may have a new look in the future with the news that Pathmark is for sale.
