Vendor/Craft Fair at Massapequa Fire Department Hosted by The Southern New York Ladies Auxiliary

Where: 515 Hicksville Rd, Massapequa, NY

When: April 15, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Why Go:  The Southern NewYork Ladies Auxiliary is hosting this vendor/craft fair.  Free admission.  The fair features handmade jewelry, chocolates, desserts, crocheted and knitted items, pocketbooks, sunglasses, cook ware, cosmetics, beauty items, wood flowers and more.

National Library Week - Long Island Reads Book Discussion

Where: , 40 Harbor Ln, Massapequa Park, NY

When: April 16, 2011, 1 p.m.

Why Go:  The Massapequa Public Library is participating in Long Island Reads in celebration of National Library Week (April 10th - 16th). During the month of April, public libraries in Nassau and Suffolk, including the Massapequa Public Library, will feature Sag Harbor by Colson Whitehead, a novel about coming-of-age in the 80s. Benji Cooper is one of the few black students at an elite prep school in Manhattan. But every summer, Benji escapes to Sag Harbor, where a small community of African American professionals have built a world of their own.

Drug Free Massapequa - Advocacy Training at Marjorie Post Park

Where: , Unqua Rd & Merrick Rd, Massapequa, NY

When: April 16, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Why Go:  The day will include raffling off an iPad, an event hosted by PUSH, a division of the Long Island Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence.

Sheet Rock at Blue Parrot

When: April 16, 9 p.m.

Why Go:  The Blue Parrot goes back to classic rock as Sheet Rock performs.

Libby Richman & Company – Distinguished Artists Concert at Farmingdale Public Library

Where: , 116 Merritts Rd, Farmingdale, NY

When: April 17, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Why Go:  Part of the Town of Oyster Bay Distinguished Artist Series. Saxophonist Libby Richman and her ensemble will provide a fascinating assortment of jazz. Libby's spphisticated melodic sound is the result of many influences including Classical, Latin and Pop Music. All are welcome.

Boomers' Brew Performance - Benefit for War Veterans

Where: , 5460 Merrick Rd, Massapequa, NY

When: April 17, 2 p.m.

Why Go:  Boomers' Brew is going to be rocking the house at a benefit/fundraiser for recovering war veterans who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, and are having trouble getting their medical needs covered by insurance.  Help out our troops while having a great time enjoying live rock music and there is food.

Pricing:  $5 at the door.
