On Thursday, we asked Massapequa Patch Facebook readers Our question was: "It's a new year, and a chance for improvements. What changes do you want to see in Massapequa."

Here are your replies:

  • More enforcement on our roadways.  Broadway in North Massapequa has two elementary schools, a few preschools, homes, businesses, etc. and is very dangerous. It is a constant speedway and therefore hazardous every day.
  • Less people driving with a cell phone in one hand and Starbucks in other.
  • More parking spots on Park Boulevard in Massapequa Park.
What other ideas do you have? let us know in the comment section below.

I would like to see Massapequa Patch do a good job of covering Town of Oyster Bay Town Hall meetings. Summary meeting notes would be helpful. Publishing the agenda for the meetings would be useful for the public in case there is an agenda item that they are interested in knowing about.

The Massapequas, (as one entity), is the finest and one of the safest places in which to live, work and raise a family in this part of the world. But, as in all things, there is room for improvement...Safer roadways, lower taxes, better mail delivery and our parks, including the Massapequa Preserve to be free of "criminal activities", especially after dark.

We need better police patrols that patrol the main streets and the back streets of our town. The police are civil servants and the NCPD has to give respect to get respect. They can't be hanging out or hiding. No officers should be walking into food stores and getting free food or hanging out in Firehouses. I think we all want a Department that we can trust and respect, that is professional. Most of what We are seeing today is far from Professional.
