Concert series sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay in local public libraries.

Local residents can enjoy four outstanding performances in March as part of the “Distinguished Artists” concert series sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay in the local libraries.

The free performances scheduled for the month of March are:

  • Sister Act, Sunday March 6, at the Bethpage Public Library, 2 p.m., located at 47 Powell Ave. in Bethpage. This sister duo takes the audience on a musical journey saluting female vocalists past and present, including impersonations and much audience participation.
  • Blue Spruce Cloggers on Sunday, March 13, at the Hicksville Public Library, 2:00 p.m., located at 169 Jerusalem Ave., Hicksville. Listen to Blue Grass, Old Time Music, plus clogging, tap and Irish dancing. Their salute to South Appalachian Mountain style clogging will make you feel like getting out of your seat and dance.
  • Zig Zag Quartet on Saturday March 19, at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 8 p.m., located at 999 Old Country Road, Plainview. This quartet which has a program that includes bass, guitar, piano and percussion, with a unique sound, will perform a classical crossover group with a wide variety of musical styling from across the continents.
  • The Manhattan Opera Association on March 20, at the Massapequa Public Library, 2 p.m., located at 40 Harbor Lane, Massapequa Park. Enjoy an afternoon of Opera and Operetta. This group will bring live opera and songs to the community.

“The performances scheduled for this month’s ‘Distinguished Artists’ program truly represent an opportunity for residents to experience a wide variety of different musical styles and, hopefully, give them a chance to expand their musical tastes outside of what they normally listen to,” Councilman Coschignano said. “Residents will be treated to outstanding entertainment.”
