Storm Brings Power Outages in Massapequa

Electrical and train problems as high winds and heavy rain moves through the area.

More than 100 customers were without power in  the Massapequas Wednesday morning as a storm passed through the area.

There were 137 in the dark in Massapequa with a handful of outages in Massapequa Park and North Massapequa, according to LIPA.

THe utility expected to have power restored by 1:30 p.m.

Heavy rains and wind gusts as high as 30 mph passed through the area overnight and into Wednesday morning causing a messy morning commute, which was worsened by delays on the Long Island Rail Road.

there were cancellations on the Babylon Branch which serves Massapequa and Massapequa Park.

A power problem on the third rail between Jamaica and Penn Station caused the LIRR to cancel the 10:09 a.m. train from Babylon due into Penn at 11:07 a.m. Customers will be accommodated by the 10: 11 a.m. train from Babylon due in Penn at 11:22 a.m.
