Ristorante Forestieri Up For Grabs [Empty in Hauppauge]

Former restaurant on Townline Road has seen better days, hopes for new beginning.

Sitting atop a small hill, there hasn't been a tasty bite to eat at the former Ristorante Forestieri on the corner of Hoffman Lane and Townline Road in Hauppauge in more than two years.

Red awnings on the building still read "Casual Fine Dining," but don't come expecting a meal. The doors are locked and the pathway up cracked, littered with debris.

This former beloved Italian restaurant closed for its doors to business in 2009, shutting down its kitchen for good.

Meanwhile, the restaurant has become a ghost of its former self, its parking lot empty and forgotten. The small building attempts to blend into with surrounding residential properties on one of Hauppauge's most traveled roads.

Because the property is adjacent to several residential areas, we at Hauppauge Patch wonder what the community would like to see here? Would you like to see another business or residential home?

That Restaurant was not at all beloved but could have succeeded if not for the right wing lunacy of the owner. He used to place on the public sidewalks the most disgusting right wing political messages. Not on Democratic or Independent with any self respect would eat there. Imagine the insanity of a business turning off 50% of his potential customers by posting such hate filled crap. I predicted that he would go under and indeed he did. Now we have a legacy of a vacant eye-soar. Thanks

Really.. I have passed that place and still do on a regular basis for yrs and never saw any signs.Paying attention to road comes first . Many accidents at Hoffman and Townline as well as cars coming out of 7-11.

Half of those hazards were caused by those sidewalk tidings. Much safer intersection with him gone. lol

You despise this person because you disagreed with what he wrote on his signs ? As far as accidents at intersection, signs made no difference. Running red lights is the issue there. Need cameras . May be that will slow down people.

I don't despise anyone, I am not the kind of person who despises anyone. I was explaining why the person went out of business as any reader with common sense would know you do not operate successful businesses by making politically distasteful statements like Hillary killing Vince Foster. That is just undebatable. As far as RC comment on the intersection, my lol means laughing out loud meaning I was joking that his signs or my noticing them caused intersection accidents. Perhaps we need another thread here on dangerous intersections as this one is about vacant buildings. Have a good day VT.
