Smokin' Al's Closes Sister Store

Barbecue restaurant closes Bay Shore location claiming legal issues. Massapequa Park store remains open.

Smokin Al's Famous BBQ Joint is suddenly down to one location.

The popular restaurant has shut down their Bay Shore store.

"We cannot legally operate out of this location any longer," Smokin' Al's owner Al Horowitz said in a statement on the restaurant's website. The Massapequa Park branch will remain open.

Horowitz said the business "is just too small," to run any longer.  He was reportedly told he has to redo his entire sewage system, according to Newsday (paid site.)

Smokin' Al's is looking for a new location in Suffolk County, Horowitz said. In the meantime, They're continuing to offer delivery service in Suffolk County from their catering menu to locations including the Fire Island Ferries.

Horowitz did not immediately return a call for comment.
