Victims of Caterer Get Magical Offer

No illusion: Magician offers free entertainment for wedding couples displaced by closed caterer.

It’s the purest form of magic, an act of kindness toward strangers.

John Lepre, a member of the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce and professional magician, volunteered to help those left scrambling for a replacement venue when Manor East Caterers in Massapequa shuttered without warning Thursday.

That vanishing act prompted Lepre to action.

Lepre showed up Friday at the office of Assemb. Joseph Saladino, R-Massapequa, who brought representatives from the Long Island Caterers Association to help displaced parties.

“To those couples that are affected I’m donating walk-around magic for their cocktail hours,” Lepre said. “I want to try and make it a more pleasant day and maybe make up for the aggravation that they’ve put up with.”

Hooked on the mystery of magic since age 6, Lepre left the insurance business to practice magic full-time 18 years ago. Now he wants to turn his passion into an unforgettable experience for families left in the lurch.

This is no illusion; contact Lepre at 516-799-8420.

“When I saw this on Patch, I said maybe here’s a way I can help.” Lepre said. “I can’t cater their meal. You won’t want to eat anything I cook. But I can bring some entertainment to their wedding reception. I want to make it a better day for them.”
