OCLI Hosts 18th Continuing Education Event for Area Optometrists Raising over $8950 for “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”

Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI) recently hosted its 18th Continuing Education (CE) event for optometrists at The Carlyle on the Green. About 180 optometrists throughout the NY metro area attended and between registration and other activities at the event, they raised over $8,950 for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) is an annual walk that takes place throughout the country to raise money for breast cancer research.

OCLI lecturers, Doctors Eric Donnenfeld, Peter Wong, Ketan Laud, Valerie Trubnik and David Sachs provided education on the latest advances and treatments in eye care for attending optometrists. Dr. Ketan Laud recently joined OCLI as an associate specializing in medical and surgical management of the retina, vitreous and macula. The final presentation was given by Jim Rienzo, Senior Eye Care Business Advisor for Allergan, Inc. He spoke about market trends in optometry.

OCLI has been a longtime supporter of MSABC and will once again participate as a Local Flagship Sponsor for the Annual Walk which will take place at Jones Beach on October 19, 2014.  Last year, OCLI raised over $93,000 to support breast cancer research through CE events such as this, the 2013 MSABC walk and other fundraising activities throughout the year. Over the past few years, the OCLI team has consistently been one of the top fundraising teams for MSABC.
