A Gray Day On The Great South Bay

Six months after Hurricane Sandy struck there were gray skies and rain in the Massapequa area Wednesday.

But unlike the day of the storm, there was no sense of danger in the area. In fact Colleran Park, overlooking the Great South Bay looked serene.

The waters were calm and Canadian geese were gathered on the shore.

But a closer look indicated the memory of the storm was not too far away. Clumps of sand and broken sea shells which washed up on the shore during Sandy are still very visible.
