A look at events and happenings around the Massapequas today.

It's Thursday  and if you look at the title of our daily look at Massapequa's events, you might have figured out that we're cheating a little bit today.

We'd be more accurate calling it "Four Things You Know Today and One Thing You Need to Know Tomorrow."

That's because they're throwing a little shindig in London Friday morning that's going to start at about 4 a.m. Eastern time. So we're going get a jump on things and tell you about it today.

Here's what you need to know  today:

  • Candidate Rally: School Board Candidates Gary Bennett and Carl Hoops who are running against incumbents Christine Lupetin Perrino and Jane Ryan will hold a campaign event Thursday night at   beginning at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Writing Our Stories: The senior writing group holds their meeting at 1 p.m. at the . The group is led by Mary Haughey.
  • PTA Meeting: The PTA Will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. On the agenda for the General/Executive meeting will be a vote on a slate of officers.
  • ZBA: The Town of Oyster Bay Zoning Board of Appeals meets at Town Hall, 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay, Thursday evening. The board, which gives variances and exemptions to the zoning code will meet at 7 p.m.
  • Royal Wedding: Massapequa Anglophiles unite! You should start thinking about brewing coffee. The marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to begin in the wee hours of Friday morning Eastern time. You can watch wall to wall coverage on most news networks at 4 a.m. with the service from Westminster Abbey expected to run from about 6 a.m. to about 7:15 a.m. Eastern time.
