We approaching the weekend in Massapequa, but our thoughts are also in Rhode Island.

That's where the Massapequa Coast 9 and 10 year olds will try to win a northeast regional championship this weekend.

Here's what you need to know today: 

  • Little League: Massapequa Coast will play the Mid -Atlantic title game Friday afternoon in Cranston, R.I. against  Maryland's Berlin Little League at 2 p.m. If they win they'll play the winner of the New England title game between Connecticut and Rhode Island. That game for the Eastern championship will be Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • Book Buddies: Children can go to the to hear stories. The teens who read the stories get community service credit. So everyone wins. It all takes place at 4 p.m.
  • Line Dancing: This Friday morning tradition continues at Bar Harbour at 10:30 a.m. It will be held in the auditorium and there is a fee due at registration.
  • Boardwalk Bandshell: The Friday tribute band series at the Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell continues with Reckoning, a band that plays the hits of the Grateful Dead. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
  • Car Cruise Night: There will be another classic car show at the beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
