A 90-year-old man was killed in an accident early Monday morning on the Southern State Parkway, state police said.
The victim, whose name wasn't immediately released, was headed east on the Parkway near the North Broadway exit in North Massapequa at 7:20 a.m.
Police from Troop L in Farmingdale said it appeared that the man may have suffered from a medical condition that caused him to lose control of his car, which crashed into a tree.
He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage where he was pronounced dead.
Lanes on the Southern State were closed for about 90 minutes following the accident.
