A veteran House member takes on a political newcomer in a newly drawn South Shore District.

There will be a new Representative in the Second Congressional District, but it could be a veteran House member.

The district had been represented by Steve Israel, D-Dix Hills, but the political map on Long Island has been redrawn as the result of the 2010 census and Israel is now running in the Third Congrssional District.

That district is currently represented by Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford, but he will be running in the new Second District.
