Presidents' Day: Monday is presidents Day, a federal state and local holiday originally celebrated to honor the birthday of our first Chief Executive, George Washington. It's still officially "Washington's Birthday," as far as the Feds are concerned, but many Americans now consider it a day to honor all presidents.
Closed: Most federal and state offices are closed. Both Town Hall in Oyster Bay and Town Hall South in Massapequa will also be on holiday. Village Hall in Massapequa Park is also closed, as is the Massapequa Public Library.
Schools: Massapequa Public Schools will be closed Monday, but will be open for the remainder of the week since Winter was canceled to make up for the days lost during Hurricane Sandy.
Sanitation: Despite the holiday there will be sanitation and S.O.R.T. Recycling pickup on Monday.
Recovery Worship: Community United Methodist Church will hold a service for those facing all types of recovery at 7 p.m.
