January was a month of record breaking snowfall, now Massapequa is dealing with an ice storm.
The nasty weather moved into the area early Tuesday morning, leaving a coating of snow that later changed over into a wintery mix of sleet and freezing rain.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for the area through Wednesday night as anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow and sleet might accumulate a wll as a quarter to 4 tenths of an inch of ice.
The ice has the potential to knock down trees or power lines and make for difficult travel.
Schools are open, but fifth grade intramurals were canceled the Birch Lane School today. A Birch lane PTA meeting at the Massapequa Library was also canceled.
Massapequa commuters were forced to deal with another difficult morning Rush Hour, and our Patch cameras were out there with them.
