What's happening in and around Massapequa.

Welcome to a white Wednesday, Massapequa. We hope you don't have too much shoveling to do. We're digging out from yet another snow storm and if you to have to go out we want you to be careful today.  We also want you to be informed and that's what we're here for. 

Each day, we spotlight events and happenings in and around the area that we think  you ought to know about. We want your help too. If there's an event announcement you'd like us to highlight, please contact us.

  • Schools closed: Enjoy your snow day kids! All Massapequa, Plainedge and Amityville Public schools are closed Wednesday. St. Rose of Lima Elementary School is also closed.
  • Other stuff that's closed: The Masapequa Public Library is closed. The Town of Oyster Bay has closed all town parks and community rooms and ice rinks. The Town of Oyster Bay Preschool is closed as is the North Massapequa Community Center and senior club. and the group activities for the handicapped drama. 
  • Town of Oyster Bay: A snow emergency has been declared in the town. Officials are urging  residents to take vehicles off the street and basketball hoops off the street to make way for snow plows. Officials also ask that residents assist their local fire departments by clearing the space in front of hydrants.
  • Massapequa Park: The village is reminding residents to park on the side of the street with odd numbered addresses to allow for street plowing. Village Hall will be open and residents should contact the village for non emergency issues related to snow removal.
  • Nassau County Hotline: Nassau County has set up a non-emergency snow related issues. The number is  1-888-684-4274.
