What's happening in and around Massapequa.

Good morning and happy Thursday to you. We are at the halfway point of the current presidential term, as today is the second anniversary of the Inauguration of President Obama.  But the next swearing in is still a while off and there's plenty of things to think about locally including school board meeting.

  • School Board Meeting: Massapequa's athletic program will be front and center at the meeting which gets underway at 8 p.m. at the . The Board of Education 
  • Story Time at Borders: The Farmingdale Borders book store at 231 Airport Boulevard will be hosting a story time at 11 a.m. The event is free and it will feature a teacher from the   
  • Movie Night: Why not spend an afternoon with Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page? The two young stars appear in  "Inception" Thursday's movie at the Bar Harbour Library was a summer blockbuster. Showtimes are at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Planning Advisory Board: The Town of Oyster Bay Planning Advisory Board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay.
  • Basketball: The Chiefs Varsity Boys Basketball team takes to the road against Rival Farmingdale at 4 p.m. The JV follows at 6 p.m.
