January 7: More Vaccinations and Snow

What's happening in and around Massapequa.

TGIF Massapequa! A very busy week has  come to a very busy end. Things may be a bit more stressful for some in the area with a forecast for snow and the r that more people may have been exposed to hepatitis at , but we're here to help you sort things out.

  • Heppatitis Treatments: After issuing a new expanded warning about hepatitis on Wednesday, the Nassau County will once again be administering vaccinations. Anyone who received communion wafers at the 1:30 p.m. mass on Christmas Day or at the 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm  Sunday Masses on December 26  should receive the treatments .The church is located at 855 Carmans road in Massapequa Park and the vaccinations will be given out from 7 a.m. to noon. A warning had previously issued to those who received communion the 10:30 a.m. and noon masses on Christmas Day.  If you can't make it to the church Friday morning, you can get the vaccinations at the Nassau County Health Department BY APPOINTMENT ONLY from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. by calling 516-227-9496. The Nassau County Health Department is located at 106 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale.
  • Snow Forecast: With the potential of several inches of snow hitting the area Friday. Town of Oyster Bay officials are once again advising residents to move their vehicles and basketball hoops out of the street to assist in plowing.  Also please assist your local fire department by keeping the areas by all hydrants clear.
  • Girls Varsity Hoops: Note the time change: The Chiefs tip off against Hempstead at the  gym beginning at 6 p.m. if the weather outside allows the game to go on.
  • Boys Varsity Basketball: Again, weather permitting, the Boys team travels to Hempstead for a 4:30 game.
  • Retro Rock:  is the place to go to hear some oldies with Tony K and Boardwalk hitting the stage at 9 p.m.
