July 11: Cell Towers and Counseling Edition

What's happening in and around Massapequa.

Welcome to Monday Massapequa, we'll try to make it a little less painful for you.

It's a particularly busy day today first and foremost because of a village meeting that's going to consider the possibility of new cell towers in Massapequa Park.

We also have another public meeting, career counseling at the library and Frank, Sammy and Dino...Well, sort of.

Here's what you need to know today:

  • Village Board: The Board meets at 8 p.m. at to explore the possibility  of a cell tower in the commercial district adjacent to Sunrise Highway. They will also hold a public hearing about a special assessment district near Euclid and Pittsburg Avenues.
  • Fire Board: The also has a board meeting on Monday at district headquarters located at 1 Brooklyn Avenue at 8 p.m.
  • Career Counseling: The is once again responding to the weak job market by holding career counseling sessions Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Scrabble: Bar Harbour is also the place to go for tournament style scrabble on Monday. You can test your knowledge of words from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the meeting room.
  • Rat Pack: It's being called the "New York Rat Pack and Friends" and while we don't think the real " Ol' Blue Eyes" is coming back with Sammy and Dean, we're sure you'll hear the music of these show biz icons as part of the "Music Under the Stars" series at Ellsworth W. Allen Park in Farmingdale. But if you're unsatisfied with the star power of those departed celebrities, you should know that they're billing Marilyn Monroe as their special guest star. It all starts at 8 p.m.
