What's happening in and around Massapequa.

Happy Wednesday everyone. 

We often write about all the things Massapequa has to offer from great schools to beautiful  parks to all the wonderful people who live here.

Today we can add another reason to trumpet the greatness of the Massapequas. You can come here and make panda puppets!

 In the interest of full disclosure, we must tell you that you that you actually have to be between the ages of three and five to make the puppets. and we're guessing that if you can read this, you're not eligible.

But if you have kids that age, it's certainly one one of the things worth highlighting, as well as music, a film and a meeting.

Here's what you need to know today: 

  • Panda Puppets: Now that we've whetted your appetite, we'll tell you that this is a children's puppet craft at the . As we mentioned, it's for kids ages 3 to 5 accompanied by an adult. It gets underway at 10 a.m. and pre-registration is required.
  • Family Concert: This is event will take place at the and it's called "One World, Many Songs," with Patricia Shih. It's for kids 3 and up and tickets are available at both library branches. It begins at 7 p.m.
  • Movie: Over at the Central Avenue Library there will be a movie that will have a concert like feel. It's called "Country Strong" and it features Gwyneth Paltrow singing and Tim McGraw acting.  Showtime is 7 p.m.
  • Zoning Board: The Massapequa Park Zoning Board meets at at 151 Front Street at 8 p.m.
  • Little League: The Massapequa Coast league's 12-year-old Williamsport team will be in action they will be playing at 5:30 p.m. at Seamen's Neck park in Seaford.
