March 8: Fat Tuesday Edition

A look at events and happenings around the Massapequas today.

Good morning Massapequa, and welcome to Fat Tuesday. Or if you want, Shrove Tuesday, Carnival or Pancake Day. The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday means a lot of things to a lot of people.

In the U.S., it has special meaning to people in New Orleans as the culmination of the Mardi Gras celebration. We're not in the Crescent City, but there is going to be a Mardi Gras bash right here in Massapequa. It's one of the things we'll be looking at in our daily column.

Each day, we spotlight events and happenings in and around the area that we think  you ought to know about. We want your help too. If there's an event announcement you'd like us to highlight, please contact us.
