Village to Start Road Work on New York Avenue

Repairs to start between Avoca and Brendan Avenues.

The Village of Massapequa Park will start road repairs on a section of  New York Avenue begining in the fall.

The village Board held a hearing on the proposed work at their meeting Monday night.

The plans are for road work on New York Avenue between Avoca Avenue and Brendan Avenue to starting September. The construction may last four weeks.

“We are actually reconstructing the entire road,” Mayor James Altadonna  told a resident of the area during the meeting. “The only thing that would affect you is if you had a sidewalk in need of repair. You can fix it in various different ways and we would be out to discuss it with each of the individual homeowners.”

The Board also repealed a section of Village Code of Ordinances regarding brush, grass and weeds.   “As you know, we already passed a pretty aggressive law and we’re just replacing it,” said Altadonna. “ We never did in last meeting.”

The Board also authorized the approval of the request to hang a banner on Park Blvd for Showtiques Crafts, Inc. prior to the annual Village Street Fair which will take place in August.
