May 19: School Board Meeting

A look at events and happenings around the Massapequas today.

It's Thursday in Massapequa and we hope one of these days we're hoping to be reintroduced to the sun for more than a short period of time.

It's been a bit of a gloomy week in Massapequa, but it's also been a busy one.  Much of the news out of the area has been related to schools and Thursday is no exception. 

We also have an interesting seminar and a big playoff game on today's agenda.

  • School Board Meeting: The Massapequa School Board will meet for the first time since Tuesday's School Board election.  They will declare the result of that election, and will also honor teachers who have been tenured. The meeting gets underway at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium.
  • Tax Free Investing: In this economy every penny counts and the Library has a program Thursday morning about tax free investing. Called "It's not what you make, it's what you keep,"  the program starts at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is required.
  • Movie: It's also Movie day at Bar Harbour.  Thursday's feature is "The Next Three Days starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. Show times are 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Softball: Massapequa's varsity made it into the second round of the playoffs. They face off against Farmingdale at the Mitchel Athletic complex in Uniondale at 4:30 p.m.
  • Girls Lacrosse: The playoff game between Massapequa and East Meadow was rained out on Wednesday. They'll try again Thursday at 4:30 p.m.  It will be at 4:30 p.m. at
