School Officials: Stranger Approached Three Girls

Man drove white van towards group of 9th graders.

Three 9th grade girls were approached by a strange man who drove his van towards them, Massapequa school officials said.

Massapequa Superintendent Charles Sulc sent a letter home to parents about the incident, which happened Wednesday afternoon according to a school official.

The girls were getting off a bus at around 2:40 p.m. when the van drove up at the intersection of East Shore Drive and Barberry Court.

"Someone opened the door and shouted something at the girls and then drove toward them," the letter said.

The girls ran away and the van fled on East Shore drive.  A police report has been filed in the case, according to the Superintendent.

The vehicle is described as an older model white van, which had tinted windows and wood covering the license plate.
