Sneak Peek: Oyster Festival 2012

Rides, picnic tables, and war ships have already arrived.

Preparations are nearly complete for the anticipated 29th Annual Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay. As the seaside braces for the hundreds of thousands expected to rush into town for the weekend, crews were busily prepping the area.

Favorite rides are back, including a ferris wheel, cyclone rides, and more. A classic carousel's horses were covered for protection so they are in prime condition when the festival opens. Tall sailing ship, The Peacemaker, is already parked on the water. Last year's , was not yet visible. Pirates, musical acts, local talent, and petting zoos are on the itinerary.

Picnic tables and tents are ready for craft tables and food, including mountains of oysters, as well as festival guilty pleasures like zeppolis and fried Oreos.

The festival will take place at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
