Just as apples and stripped bass have their prime season, so too do potholes. They are predictable, unavoidable and a sometimes dangerous rite of passage on Long Island.
These gravelly, asphalt mini graves are the scourge of any commute, spilling coffee and jarring your teeth at every opportunity.
The blizzard of 2013 did nothing to help the problem. Freezing and unfreezing of asphalt creates stress. Roads also took a beating, snow plows scrapping and pounding the pavement as they cleared roadways.
The net result: The roads around Massapequa need fixing.
