Academy Awards: The Best Picture at Sunday night's Academy Awards was  "The Artist," which became the first silent film to win the top prize in 83 years. The film's director Michel Hazanavicius  and lead actor Jean Dujardin a;so came away with trophies, as did Best Actress winner Meryl Streep. Legendary actor Christopher Plummer, 83, won the Best Supporting Actor prize and Best Supporting Actress went to "Octavia Spencer" of "The Help."

Village Board Meeting: Because of the Presidents Day Holiday, the second February Village Board meeting will be held a week later than usual. It meets at beginning at 8 p.m.

Fire Meeting: The Massapequa Fire Board meets at 1 Brooklyn Avenue in Massapequa at 8 p.m.

Career Counseling:  There will be a career counselor on hand at the Bar Harbour Library Monday to offer advice on resumes, interviews and changing careers among other things.
