Town Board Meeting and Library Events

Tuesday Nov. 23

It doesn't get any better than this. It's only Tuesday and we're already halfway through our work week. But that doesn't mean Massapequa or the surrounding area is going to shut down.  So we're here once again with our list of things you need to know.  Each day, we're going to  spotlight events and happenings in and around the area that we think you ought to be aware of. We are asking for your help too. If there's an event announcement you'd like us to know about, please contact us.

Here's what you need to know today:

  • Oyster Bay Town Board Meeting: Tuesday's Town meeting will be held in the hearing room of Town Hall East at 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay at 10 a.m. While there are no public hearings on the agenda for this meeting, several resolutions will be voted on and the public is invited to speak during the public comments section.
  • Fuschillo/Rice Press Conference: State Sen. Charles Fuschillo (R-Merrick) and Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice, a Democrat, will join forces in  Tuesday to call for a new state law requiring mandatory jail time for repeat DWI offenders. Fuschillo's district includes parts of Massapequa. The press conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
  • Book Discussion: The Massapequa Public Library  will be hosting "Literature and Life," a book discussion to be held at the children's room beginning at 1 p.m.
  • Children's Program: For much younger residents, the Central Avenue  library will be hosting "Massapequa Babies II" a children's program for babies up to 17 months old.  Pre-registration is required. The program takes place in the children's room at 10 a.m.
  • Parent/Athlete Meeting: If you're a student who plans to play a winter sport, this meeting  is mandatory.  It starts at 7 p.m.
