Week in Review: April 29 to May 4

A look at the top stories in Massapequa this week.

It was a week that saw several people get in hot water with the police, including, possibly a police officer himself.  We continued the process heading to the school elections and we're also headed towards a milestone for one area school. And we had a surprise visitor to TOBAY Beach.

Here's a look back:

There was this week about a seventh precinct cop. A woman claimed Officer Michael Tedesco had trysts in her home while he was on duty. Tedesco has been suspended while the matter is being investigated , according to the report.

The police were busy with other matters as well, an with DWI after she was seen driving erratically from Massapequa to Framingdale. Police said her license had been suspended more than four times.

Cops are also investigating the on Merrick road. The girl was confronted by a group of five or six youths. One of them kicked her in the stomach and tried to take her purse.

Residents got their on the school budget as the Massapequa Board of Education held a required hearing on the budget. The school district is also planning a major celebration next week to mark the .

Finally, TOBAY beach got a surprise visitor this week, as a gray seal was seen on shore. Area fishermen grew concerned and alerted authorities, but we're happy to report the seal was not hurt.
