Week in Review: Feb. 12 to Feb. 18

A look at the top stories in Massapequa this week.

It may be the dead of winter, but the weather's been mild and there's been plenty to celebrate. Particularly now. From Valentine's Day to Mardi Gras, there's been plenty to do. But not everything was a celebration. There was a troubling story involving area team and a protest on Sunrise Highway. 

Here's a look back:

A protest at the Massapequa ParkVerizon store was sponsored by the Long Island Progressive coalition. They argue that the phone company should pay a fairer share of taxes. Verizon says they've paid billions in taxes in recent years.

A North Massapequa teen was arrested for an attempted robbery in Farmingdale, where cops said three teens used a BB gun to try to steal a cell phone.

State Police arrested a Deer Park man this week in North Massapequa after he allegedly drove drunk on the Southern State at speeds of more than 100 mph.
