Week in Review: July 15 to July 22

A look at the top stories in Massapequa this week.

It was in many ways a frightening week with two terrible incidents on Merrick Road, a spectacular crash at Starbucks and a gun crime.  But we also saw an annual show of patriotism, and met Massapequa's newest TV star.

Here's a look back:

The week began with a tragedy on Merrick Road. A as he was trying to cross the street in a hit and run accident, according to cops.

About 24 hours later, near One was seriously injured. This time the driver stayed at the scene  and there were no charges.

The accident marred the normally festive event hosted by the Town of Oyster Bay. Area veterans and volunteers were honored and the crowd was treated to a dazzling fireworks display.

The continued Friday when a car slammed into the front door of Thankfully, the driver was not hurt badly.

In a week where amade news around the nation, by a gun-toting robber on Clocks Boulevard, police said.

In a week that brought so much bad news. It's nice  that we had someone to cheer for. this week on TV's "Project Runway."
