Week in Review: May 20 to June 2

A look at the top stories in Massapequa this week.

We began the week with our annual remembrance of those we lost in defense of our country.  A short work week followed that didn't turn out to be a great one for Massapequa High School's Lacrosse teams. We also learned about a new system that's drawn the school district's interest and about a local resident who's in hot water following a celebration at Citi Field.

Here's a look back:

We opened the week with Massapequa Park's as area veterans marched through the streets from North Broadway to Brady Park. Following the parade the annual wreath laying service was held at the park.

It was a rough week for the Massapequa Chiefs. On Tuesday, the top seeded Boys as Syosset scored six straight goals to win the Nassau Class A Championship. On Wednesday the girls lacrosse team to Farmingdale in the Class A title game.

But the worst moment for a Massapequan on a sports field this week, could have come at Citi Field on Friday.  Raphael Diaz, 32, of Massapequa was with interfering  with a sports event after police said he ran on the field to join the New York Mets who were celebrating the team's first ever no hitter.
